Simba Beat Pamba Jiji to Stay Within Touching Distance of Yanga in Title Race

Simba SC kept their Tanzania Mainland Premier League title hopes alive with a crucial 2-1 victory over Pamba Jiji at KMC Complex Stadium.

The match was fiercely contested, with both teams desperate for a positive result, but Simba made the most of their chances to secure all three valuable points.

The Msimbazi Reds took the lead through forward Elie Mpanzu, who expertly finished a superb pass from Neo Maema in the first half. The goal appeared to put Simba in control, but Pamba Jiji responded strongly and equalized before halftime through Mathew Momanyi, ensuring the teams went into the break level at 1-1.

Simba returned for the second half with greater urgency, creating a series of attacks against the visitors. After missing several clear opportunities, attacking midfielder Libasse Gueye emerged as the match-winner, beating the Pamba Jiji defense before finishing confidently with his left foot.

The victory gives Simba three vital points in the championship race and keeps the pressure on their rivals as the season enters its decisive stages. The win moves Simba to 61 points, just two behind league leaders Yanga, who have 63.

The result ensures Simba remain firmly in contention for the title in what has been one of the most competitive league campaigns in recent years. Every remaining match will be crucial as they continue their pursuit of the championship.

Tanzania Prisons Boost Survival Hopes

In another match played at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya, Tanzania Prisons strengthened their fight against relegation with an impressive 3-1 victory over Dodoma Jiji.

Despite the important win, Tanzania Prisons remain in a difficult position in the relegation battle and continue to occupy 15th place in the standings.

However, the result has provided renewed hope as they prepare for the final matches of the season in their bid to retain their Premier League status.
