Atlético Madrid are reportedly standing firm on the future of their star striker Julián Álvarez, with the club said to have set strict conditions for FC Barcelona, who are interested in signing the Argentine international.
According to reports, Atlético Madrid insist they will not easily allow Álvarez to leave, describing him as a key part of their long-term project. The club is said to value the striker at around €150 million before even considering a transfer.
Barcelona, who are looking to strengthen their attacking line ahead of next season, have reportedly identified Álvarez as one of their main transfer targets. However, the major obstacle remains Atlético’s asking price, which appears to be beyond the Catalan club’s current financial capacity.
Reports further suggest that Barcelona had initially considered offering around €100 million, but Atlético Madrid rejected the proposal, maintaining that the player is “not for sale” unless their demands are fully met.
Meanwhile, tensions between the two clubs continue to rise, with Atlético Madrid expressing frustration over ongoing transfer rumours, which they have described as misleading and unfounded.
Álvarez remains an important player for Atlético Madrid, contributing significantly in both domestic and European competitions, further reinforcing the club’s determination to keep him.
The final outcome of the potential transfer now depends on whether Barcelona will increase their bid or abandon the pursuit entirely.
Álvarez is currently with the Argentina national team in the United States, where they are defending their World Cup title.
