Defending Tanzania Mainland Premier League champions Yanga SC have reportedly joined the race to sign Mouna FC left-back Samba Koné ahead of the upcoming major transfer window.
Yanga view the 23-year-old defender as a suitable replacement for DR Congo international Chadrack Boka, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season amid indications that he may not be offered a new deal.
Koné, an Ivorian international, has earned widespread recognition this season for his impressive performances on the left side of Mouna FC’s defense. He is regarded as one of the standout left-backs in the Ivorian top flight after registering four assists and playing a key role in his team’s campaign.
In addition to his performances in Ivory Coast, Koné has experience playing abroad, having previously featured for Paradou AC of Algeria, a club renowned for developing some of Africa’s top football talents. That experience is reportedly one of the factors attracting Yanga’s interest as the club seeks to strengthen its squad for next season’s continental competitions.
Koné’s contract with Mouna FC is expected to expire on June 30, making him an attractive option in the transfer market due to the possibility of being available at a relatively low cost.
Yanga continue to pursue plans to reinforce their squad following a highly competitive season, with the left-back position identified as one of the areas that could be strengthened despite the club having signed former Simba captain Mohamed Hussein "Zimbwe Jr" in the previous campaign.
If the move is completed, Koné would become another Ivorian player in the Yanga squad, joining compatriots Pacome Zouzoua and Yao Kouassi, who are already part of the club.
