Manchester United and Manchester City Battle for Cucurella

English football giants Manchester United and Manchester City have reportedly entered a fierce battle to sign Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old defender has attracted major attention after reports claimed he has already informed Chelsea of his desire to leave this summer, opening the door for a transfer race among Europe’s top clubs.

Chelsea set a high price tag

Chelsea are said to have set a fee of around €40–50 million to part ways with the player, reflecting his current value in the European transfer market.

Cucurella, who joined Chelsea from Brighton, has had mixed spells at Stamford Bridge, but remains highly regarded due to his defensive work rate, attacking runs, and ability to operate as a modern full-back.

Manchester United are reportedly viewing Cucurella as a long-term solution at left-back, a position that has struggled with injuries and inconsistency in recent seasons.

On the other hand, Manchester City appear to be taking a more cautious approach, as they already have several players capable of playing in that position, reducing their urgency to enter a bidding war.

However, the rivalry between the two Manchester clubs has intensified the transfer market interest, keeping discussions around his price highly active.

Other clubs also monitoring the situation

Beyond England, Spanish giants FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are also reported to be interested in signing Cucurella.

Reports suggest the player himself could be more attracted to a return to Spain, especially with a long-standing dream of one day playing for Barcelona, a club where he developed during his youth career.
