Al Ahly Reach Agreement with Hussein Ammouta to Become New Head Coach

Egyptian giants Al Ahly have reportedly reached an initial agreement with Moroccan coach Hussein Ammouta to take over as head coach on a two-year deal worth approximately $210,000 per month.

According to reports, the contract includes a termination clause allowing the club to end the agreement at any time, provided they pay three months’ salary as compensation.

Earlier, Al Ahly were also said to have reached a preliminary agreement with Portuguese coach Bruno Lage on a two-year contract valued at around $350,000 per month. However, that deal reportedly also included a similar exit clause after the first season.

Ultimately, Al Ahly’s leadership decided to appoint Ammouta, following strong backing from senior club officials who believe he can bring stability and immediate success to the squad.

The club’s Director of Football, Wael Gomaa, is said to have strongly supported Ammouta’s appointment, praising his technical ability, discipline, and understanding of African football.

Club legend Mohamed Aboutrika was also involved in consultations and gave his approval for the decision, adding further confidence to the final appointment.

Ammouta, who has an impressive track record of success in both Africa and Asia, is expected to be tasked with maintaining Al Ahly’s dominance in the Egyptian Premier League and CAF competitions, as the club awaits confirmation of its Champions League participation depending on Zamalek’s financial licensing situation.
