Yanga SC are reportedly set to complete the signing of Burkina Faso striker Yves Koutiama (27) as part of their squad strengthening plans ahead of next season.
Koutiama joins the Tanzanian champions after an impressive spell with Kenya’s Polisi FC, where he played following his arrival during the mid-season transfer window of the recently concluded campaign.
Despite featuring for only half a season, the striker scored 10 goals and won the Kenyan Premier League’s Best Foreign Player award, attracting interest from several clubs across East Africa.
Reports indicate that Yanga have been impressed by his goal-scoring ability and believe he can add greater firepower to an attacking department that is expected to undergo significant improvements before the start of the new season.
According to the reports, Koutiama is set to sign a two-year contract once the transfer window officially opens.
Before joining Polisi FC, Koutiama played for USFA Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, where he also established a reputation as a prolific goalscorer.
The forward made an immediate impact in Kenyan football by scoring two goals in his debut match after arriving in January.
He continued to trouble opposing defences throughout the season and finished with 10 goals, a record that placed him among the most impressive strikers in the league.
